Following the "Kuhnigunde" trail in Diepolz
The "Allgäuer Bergbauernmuseum" is located at an altitude of over 1000 m in Diepolz, a village near Immenstadt. Small visitors will have a great day there, because the exhibition in the museum building already invites to "grasp" and participate. Historical tools from agriculture are exhibited as well as the typical tools of a cheese maker.
Then we go outside, where a working museum farm awaits us with lots of animals. On a beautiful and easy hike we go up to the "Sattlerhof", where further exhibitions lure, and further to the "Höfle Alpe". Then we return to Diepolz in a scenic round along the nature trail at Reute. There are numerous information and play stations along the way.

Turn-by-turn directions
The museum mascot Kuhnigunde takes us around the "Bergbauernmuseum", which is open from the beginning of April to the beginning of November. In the museum, children can experience animals up close, romp in the waterhole on the adventure playground, climb trees, jump into hay, bake bread, make their own herbal ointments and learn everything about milk.
After visiting the museum we hike across the meadows to the hut "Höfle Alpe", where we have a delicious snack. From there we continue along the edge of the forest to the east. Shortly after the "stovepipe", through which you can see the Allgäu mountains, we turn right onto the dirt road. Thus, a little later, one arrives at a road with only little traffic. There we walk a short distance to the left and then follow the access road to the farm to the right.
At the farmhouse we turn left and cross the cow pastures to the edge of the forest. As soon as we are in the forest, we come to the "Schlängelpfad" – here you can run a great race.
Behind it you turn right with the Kuhnigunde to the barefoot path. Next to the path there are always some exciting stations where you can join in.
Through a natural tunnel, we reach a small picnic area where we can listen to the sounds of nature. On the way back, we cross a small moor in which peat used to be cut as heating material. On a plank path we cross the last swampy places, then cross the road and the parking lot and follow Kuhnigunde to the right again. On a path parallel to the road we return to Diepolz. There we can taste delicious cheese in the alpine dairy or stop at the "Dreikäsehoch" restaurant.
