Paths through forests and pastures characterize this tour on the northern side of the valley of Konstanz (Konstanzer Tal). Particularly enjoyable is the smooth hike over the Thaler Höhe alongside of an elongated mountain chain. At its the eastside we reach the viewpoint Alpseeblick. It is not surprising that you are rarely alone here, due to the gorgeous view of the lake Alpsee and the mountains which rise up in the back.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the starting point at the railway crossing (732 m) we follow the street through the dispersed houses of the viller Reuter, until the street ends next to a farm northwest of the viller. We continue walking straight on, taking paths through the forest and pastures which lead us alongside a slope into the direction Wiedemannsdorf. At the junction to Schneidberg-Alpe we turn right. We pass the alpine hut which is open in summer time and climb up into the direction of Thaler Höhe on mainly broad ways, passing Eggers-Alpe. Shortly after the merging into the paved road to the Neuschwand-Alpe, which is already visible, we reach a crossing where we turn right. Soon we reach the Tahler Höhe (1166 m). We walk alongside the ridge until we reach a fork. To get to the Alpseeblick (1070 m) we follow the path straight on, passing a large wooden crucifix. Back at the junction we turn right downhill and soon we come upon a wide gravel path. Already after the next turn we leave that path again. Through the forest we climb down towards the Siedelalpe, until we reach a crossing. We follow the path on the right hand down towards Trieblings. If you are hungry you can make a side trip to the Alpe Schönesreuth. Otherwise we directly climb down to Trieblings, cross the railway tracks and hike alongside lake Großer Alpsee and walk next to the railway back to our starting point.

Public transport

Public transport friendly

By train to Immenstadt and by bus toward Oberstaufen until we reach the bus stop Ratholz, Alpsee Bergwelt.

Getting there

On Highway A7 to the intersection Dreieck Allgäu, from there change to A980. We leave A980 at the exit Waltenhofen and continue on road B19 toward Sonthofen/Oberstdorf until we reach the exit Lindau/Oberstaufen/Immenstadt-Zentrum. Now we follow the signage on B308 toward Oberstaufen until Alpsee Bergwelt (about 1,5 km after lake Großer Alpsee) is on our left, we turn right into a small street toward Ratholz. Before we reach the first houses we turn right again. We follow the street until we reach the railroad crossing. Here we find possibilities for parking.

Parking

There are a few parking lots at the railroad crossing just before the viller Reuter. Alternatively we use the parking lots at Alpsee Bergwelt.
